On April 16th, 2011, Raleigh, North Carolina was subject to severe weather, damaging houses and homes, and was even victim to a tornado destroying power lines, and even killing 21 people in the process.
Unfortunately, KWI was not an exception to this tragedy, as former KWI Tag-team Champion and fan favorite, Kevin Kash, Real Name, Christopher Cash, was tragically killed in the storm, at 12:48 am this morning, April 17th, 2011. He was only 26 years old.
"It's really a great loss to the CAW Entertainment World." claimed Marcellus Martin, KWI Executive Owner, "He was so young, and had a bright future ahead of him." Marcellus met Kash after he won backstage tickets to a WWL Click-Per-View entitled "Unfinished Business", Marcellus also claims that Kash told him of his dream to become a Professional Wrestler, and that it was his 'anti-drug',. Sadly, Marcellus saw that Cash had a Drug Addiction to LSD and Heroin, so he was not signed, though Martin claimed to keep him in mind in the near future and would 'see him on the other side'.
Other close friends and family explained what happened the tragic day Cash was taken from them, Nathan Murphy, who goes under the name 'Nathan Slash' in CAW Wrestling was over Cash's house visiting him, his wife and his brother Francis, as well as Blake Styles, Skylar Rayne and 'The Rockin Boy' Tyler Richardson, for Spring Break.
"We heard a storm was on its way and it was meant to be severe" said Francis Cash, 23, "We blew it off like it was nothing, because usually (storms) here never do more than a few windy gusts."
Francis said that they were all in the family room having drinks, and watching the NBA Playoffs when the EAS came across the screen warning of an oncoming tornado, Blake and Skylar had already left.
"He had told everyone to find flashlights in case the power went out and called Blake and Sky to tell them about the storm" Claimed Tyler Richardson, 30, who has been Cash's friend for 8 years, and wrestles under the name 'The Rockin Boy'.
Nathan then said that once the storm was near that Cash stayed in the family room to lock the windows, shit curtains and bar the doors as the others stayed in interior hallways. "Most of us were yelling 'Chris, get back in the hall, it's gonna hit' and he went 'i gotta get the windows in the front'" Murphy claimed that him and Richardson were in a Hallway where Cash could be seen easily. While Francis was in a windowless storage room with Cash's wife and son.
At 8:00 pm, the storm hit Raleigh and ravaged the city, Francis said the power went out after a lightning strike, Cash was still in the family room when the roof caved in, Francis and Nathan immediately went out into the family room to grab Cash, who was underneath a giant piece of the roof and was bleeding bad, Richardson called 9-1-1 .
"(We) Heard him yell and heard a big thud, I looked over at Nate and we ran out of our rooms without a hesitation to get him, all u should see was his legs and head" Francis said, choking slightly on tears. "Took both of us to pull the roof off of him."
Cash had both of his arms broken , 4 of his ribs broken with 2 others cracked, and a laceration on his right pectoral. EMS arrived at 8:10, Cash was lifted into the ambulance along with Francis as Richardson and Murphy stayed with Cash's wife and son, on the way to the hospital however, Cash stopped breathing, Medics performed CPR and was able to revive him. "It happened about 3 times, once at the ambulance, then twice in the parking lot" Claimed Stu Nesmith, the man who performed CPR on Cash. Cash was in the ER for 4 hours as doctors ran him in and out of X-Rays and CAT Scans. It was revealed that Cash had suffered a severe Concussion and ruptured lung, and a shard of glass in his laceration of his pectoral near his heart, before they could do anything, they had to surgically remove the glass from his chest. But before they could do any surgery, Cash had stopped Breathing and was unconscious, Doctors and Medics failed to revive Cash this time, and was pronounced dead at 12:48 am.
"I remember waiting out by the lobby, just praying to god he would be alright." Francis said through tears, when the doctor came out, I looked at him and he just shook his head no.
Samantha Cash, Cash's wife who had been married for 6 months, refused to comment at this time, Chris is survived by her and his 8 year old son, Peter.
